Creating a Dessert Dash as a Voting Contest

Note: Voting Feature requires a Plus or Professional subscription. More information about upgrading your subscription can be found here.

Dessert Dashes are a fun segue from dinner to the live auction portion of your event where tables vie for the opportunity to select dessert for their table.

Originally, pledges were noted on paper bid sheets on each table - requiring pledges to be tallied before announcing the winners.

The voting feature allows guests to "pledge" for their table from their phones. Since the proceeds are visible in real time, participants can see how they're doing while they still have an opportunity to pledge - plus the winners list is available immediately at the close.

 To Create a Dessert Dash:

To create a Voting Contest from an existing template:

  1. Go to the Voting Contests page.
  2. Click the Create from Template button.
  3. Select the desired contest template, Dessert Dash
  4. Click the Edit icon on the newly created contest to complete the setup.

Edit Contest Name and Times, then Add Tables as Contestants:

  • Enter your Contest Name in the Name field.
  • Setting automated opening and closing times is optional. Most Dessert Dashes use the manual trigger options to start and stop the contest rather than setting specific times.
  • Click Add New Contestant to add your Table Names or Table Numbers.
  • Click the Trash icon to delete a Table.
  • To Edit a table name, click on the existing Table name, update the text, and approve the change.

Edit Pricing/Vote Options:

Under the Pricing tab, click the Create a New Vote/Price Option button to add as many vote, pledge-level, or pricing options as needed.

Choose Whether to Report Results Based on Vote Count -or- Amount Raised:

Under the Winning Criteria tab, select how your award winners will be determined:

  • Vote Count – Winners are determined by the number of votes received.
  • Amount Raised – Winners are determined by the total amount raised.

Target for Vote Count is optional. You can specify a fundraising goal or target for the competition and track progress toward that goal on your display screens.

To preview the Voting screen, click the Back to Voting Contest List link at the bottom left of the page.
