Placing Proxy Bids (Acorn/Plus/Professional)

This article explains how Acorn, Plus, and Professional subscribers can place Proxy bids, votes, donations, or purchases on behalf of users during online auctions, mobile bidding events, voting contests, or virtual events. 

To Proxy bid, navigate to Auction Night > Bid/Purchase for a User, select the user and desired item, choose the appropriate bid, buy, donate, or vote option, enter the amount, and submit for confirmation.

 It also covers required setup, including enabling at least one online feature (such as mobile bidding, voting contests, or virtual events) for proxy actions to appear.

Tip: Online/Voting Tasks Section will not display on your Auction Night Screen unless at least one "online" feature is enabled and visible to the public: Online/Mobile bidding, Voting Contest, and/or Virtual Event. Each feature is enabled by checking the first checkbox in their respective Site Settings.

Acorn, Plus, Professional subscribers can place bids or votes, make donations and/or purchase items for users who need assistance during an online auction, mobile bidding, voting contest or virtual event.

To Place Proxy Bids for Users Needing Assistance:

Go to: Auction Night screen > Bid/Purchase for User.

  1. Go to the Auction Night screen > Bid/Purchase for a User button.
  2. Search and select the User Name or Bidder Number in the User Name search field.
  3. Search and select the desired Item by item name or number, Cash Donation Item, or Vote Contestant.
    When the desired "item" is selected, the appropriate bid/buy/donate/vote options will display.
  4. Specify option/amount
  5. Click the Enter button to submit the bid.
  6. Review banner message for confirmation

To place Proxy bids for a guest who can’t attend your gala but would still like to participate in the silent auction (paper bid) or live auction:

Start by issuing them a $0 ticket so a bidder number and shopping cart are created in their name. Entering Tickets from RSVP or Order forms + Video

Then, give their bidder paddle to a volunteer or attendee who will bid on their behalf during the even. The proxy bidder can bid for them, either on paper bid sheets or by raising the paddle during the live auction.

If the guest wins an item, simply send them an Invitation to Self Check-Out so they can complete payment remotely. Inviting Guests to Self Check-Out  from Orders Page
