New! Google/Apple Pay Available on Deluxe Gateways

If you are using Deluxe Payments for credit card processing on your event site(s) - you also have the option of offering Google/Apple Pay as additional payment options.

Most folks are familiar with how buyers can use Google/Apple Pay but its important to understand how it works from the merchant's perspective before enabling it for your event. . .

  1. Google/Apple Pay are NOT credit card  processors.  Google and Apple Pay merely store/provide the card details needed to run the transaction on the merchant's credit card processor.     Currently, the software supports Google/Apple Pay on the Deluxe gateway only.    Google/Apple Pay transactions incur the regular Deluxe fees of 3% + .30 per transaction.

2.  "Tap to Pay" functionality requires a mobile to mobile app.  Our software is web-based (not an app) so Tap to Pay functionality is not available.     When enabled, Google and Apple Pay will only display as payment options for online payments made by the buyer on their own devices.

3.  Vaulting Implications:

  • When enabled, buyers will have the option to pay for online transactions via a credit card (manually entered) or using card details already stored in Google or Apple Pay.
  • If they pay by credit card, the card can be vaulted/stored in the software for later use by the buyer or your team.
  • If the payment is processed via Google/Apple Pay, the software cannot capture and vault the credit card used during the transaction.  The buyer retains sole access to the stored card.
  • You can still ask/require bidders to vault a card in the software prior to bidding/check-in but if encouraging your supporters to vault a card in the software for your later use is important - you should not enable Google/Apple Pay.

To Enable Google/Apple Pay on your Deluxe Account

  1. Go to:  Site Settings > Customize Your Site > Payments/Credit Card > Setup Credit Card Gateway
  2. Change the Enable Apple Pay/Google Pay Slide to ON.
