Bid Types Allowed
What Bid Style do you want to use for your OnlineAuction/Mobile Bidding?
- Enter an Amount: bidders enter the amount they wish to bid.
- Quick Bids (single click buttons display for the next 3 bid increments) can encourage bidding frenzies at a live event.
- Max Bids (eBay-style): bidders specify the maximum bid they wish to place and the software auto-bids for them up to their stated maximum. (Note: Unrealized Max bids do not transfer to paper bidding.)
- Combination: bidders can Enter single bid or place a Max bid. (Note: This option allows bidders to bid against their own Max bid, to increase their final high bid if the item is transferring to paper bidding.)
Bid Types can enabled at Site Settings > Events > Online Bidding/Mobile Bidding > Bidding Settings.
When setting up your auction, you can choose which bidding methods to allow. Here's how each one works:
1. Enter an Amount
Bidders manually type in any amount at or above the current minimum bid. Simple and straightforward.
2. Max Bid (eBay-style)
Bidders enter the most they're willing to pay, and the system automatically bids on their behalf, starting at the minimum raise and increasing incrementally as competing bids come in, up to their maximum.
A few things to know:
- Automated bids may not all appear in the public bid history.
- Ties go to whoever bid first, if two bidders enter the same Max Bid amount, the earlier bid is realized as the high bidder.
3. Quick Bid Buttons
One-click buttons that let bidders jump to a preset amount instantly. When you enable Quick Bids three single bid option buttons at specified bid amounts are available for one click bidding:
- Button Option 1 - Displays the current minimum bid (aka 1× raise above current high).
- Button Option 2 - Displays an amount 2x minimum raise amount from current high bid.
- Button Option 3 - Displays an amount 3× the minimum raise amount from current high bid.
4. Combo Bidding
Gives bidders the flexibility to Enter a single bid and/or place a Max bid.
- Allows bidders to bid against their own max bid which is helpful when online bidding is transferred to paper sheet at a gala event. Because unrealized Max Bids do not transfer to paper sheet bidding, this allows the bidder to increase their transfering high bid.
- Ties go to whoever bid first, if two bidders enter the same amount, the earlier bid stays the high bidder.

Note: Buy Now prices let a bidder skip the auction entirely by paying a premium price, typically 150–200% of fair market value, to claim an item immediately. Once a Buy Now price is set on an item, the option displays automatically with no additional configuration needed.
- Sellable & Signup Items: Buy Now is required and functions as the fixed purchase price.
- Silent Items: Buy Now is optional and can be set per item or via a bulk edit.
(Note: Buy Now is not supported for Silent Online items that allow multiple winners, the option will not display for those items.)
