Video Production Steps

  1. Review Script
  2. Setup Site for actions/steps you want to demonstrate.   Go to Site Settings > SU > Data Backups and create a backup of your site at this point - so you can restore to the backup if you flub and need to reshoot (without having to unwind all of the transactions).   The backup tool isn't perfect but it only takes a second to create one - and when it works it can save you an enormous amount of time/irritation.
  3. Create any Fixed Images/Slides
  4. Request a Title Page if necessary
  5. Record Audio.
  6. Edit/clean-up Audio file.
  7. Save Audio File with desired Video Name/Title.
  8. Reopen audio file, minimize to fit beside screen capture
  9. While listening to finished audio file, Record Visual making sure screen is 1280 x 720.   When done, chose Save to "Audio" file + add to timeline
  10. Clean-up Visual (removing mistake sections)
  11. Upload fixed images/slides
  12. Synch Visual with Audio (by inserting pauses into audio, trimming/speeding up visual and adding fixed images/slides as needed)
  13. Add annotations as needed (be sure to confirm saved file screensize is 1280 x 720 )
  14. Upload and add title page and closing segment.
  15. Save - then watch from start to finish - rinse and repeat, as nec.
  16. Publish to Youtube (not sure if Youtube blocks re-used names, may need to edit existing video to (retired) first)
  17. Once published, go to YouTube to finish
  18. Confirm/Choose Title Page as Thumbnail
  19. Watch 15-30 seconds of video to ensure it looks as expected (volume, sizing etc)
  20. Change new video visibility to Public - and old video to Private
  21. Replace embed code in Screensteps to update help docs.

Shortcuts

Command+Control+2   End Recording

T = Split Clip

Command Z = undo last action

W = trim front end of clip(s) at scrubber

E = trim back end of selected clip(s) at scrubber

[ and ] = nudge clip on timeline
