Equipment Tips for Livestreaming
This article is focuses on the basic equipment needed to produce a quality livestream feed for your event. If you are already working with a professional video production team, you can stop reading now. If you're planning on producing your own livestream - read on!
Listed below are several configurations of hardware (with links to specific products) that we have used before. There are, of course, an endless assortment of other products that will also work - but we've limited our recommendations to products we've personally used, that we know work with our software, and that are readily available.

Camera/Mic combinations
Basic Option (built-in camera, external mic)
- Use the camera built into your computer
- Use an inexpensive lavalier microphone:
Intermediate Options (external camera and microphone)
- Option A: Iphone/Android with a high-quality camera (that you already own)
- Make sure you connect to your computer with a cable that is compatible with your phone.
- Use an inexpensive tripod to hold the phone: UBeesize Phone 51" Tripod
- Install Kinoni software on your phone/computer to allow your phone to stream video to your computer.
- Option B: USB camera: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920
3. In both cases use a lavalier microphone.

- If necessary, you can connect to your computer using an audio to USB adapter: DuKabel ProSeries USB to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter
Advanced (DSLR or video camera)
- Use an external DSLR or Video camera
- Connect the camera to your computer using an HDMI to USB converter
- Best: Elgato Cam Link 4K
- Good: BlueAVS Audio Video Capture Cards
- Use microphones listed above or wireless:
- Higher Quality for one person: Rode Wireless Go
- Good Quality and works with two people: Saramonic Blink 500
Lighting
In all cases consider your lighting - you can find many videos on youtube that explain how to setup lighting

Production Software/Service
If you want to include pre-recorded videos, static images, overlays and/or video feeds from more than one location/webcam, you'll need to use additional tools (or the services of a video professional) to manage the various elements within your livestream.
