Creating Thermometer Display Screens

You can create Thermometer Display Screens to be projected onto a wall, or show on a TV or Monitor to track the progress toward your overall fundraising goal -or- to track donations to your Paddle Raise/Special Appeal and acknowledge paddle raise donors.

Note: Donations made via bid paddle (entered by your team on the Auction Night screen) AND donations placed on your supporters' smartphones are acknowledged on the display screen, but the display screen is a mobile bidding feature.

 If you wish to use the display screen for gala, in-person donations only:

  • the cash donation option must still be setup for both online/mobile + paddle donations (edit to "not visible to the public" to prevent folks from donating online).
  • the online/mobile feature must be enabled (visible to the public) in order to launch the display screen.

To Create Display Screen:

Go to: Site Settings > Events > Online Auction/MobileBidding  > Mobile Bidding Display Screens

Click New Mobile Bidding Display Screen, then select Thermometer/Progress Tracker Displays from the dropdown menu.

To Configure Thermometer Display Screen:

  1. Select a data source: Choose Total Revenue or an existing Cash Donation/Paddle Raise item from the dropdown menu.

    Understand the target amount: If using a Cash Donation/Paddle Raise item, the thermometer is calibrated to that item’s target amount. If no target is set, the scale defaults to $10,000.
    Edit the target amount (if needed): Go to Catalog > Edit the desired Cash Donation/Paddle Raise item > Update target amount > Save.
  2. Include recurring pledges (optional): By default, the thermometer displays one-time pledges only. Select Include Annualized Recurring Pledge Amounts to include recurring pledges at their annualized value (×12).
  3. Display totals: Enable Display Raised and Goal Section to show both the raised amount and goal at the top of the screen.
  4. Customize the header: Add a header or Logo in the HTML description box to personalize the display.
  5. Add a countdown timer (optional): Enable the countdown to display time remaining based on the item’s closing time (shows days and hours). If no closing time is set, the timer will remain hidden.

To Preview Your Display Screen:

To Launch the Thermometer/Progress Tracker Display in a new window, click the Film icon next to the desired display screen.

To test the floating donor acknowledgments, Go to Auction Night > Sell a Bulk Item to record a few fake donations, then use the Delete buttons in the history section to unwind the test donations.

Tip:  Be sure to test your display well ahead of time to ensure your hardware works together.
