Editing Online/Mobile Email Notifications

This article explains how to edit and manage Online/Mobile email notifications, including outbid alerts

While the system is designed to maximize delivery, email and mobile providers may filter these messages, so notifications should be used as a helpful bidding aid rather than a guarantee. 

You’ll also learn how to customize notification settings, access SMS options (for eligible subscribers), and understand the most reliable ways—such as on-screen alerts—to stay updated on bidding activity.

Acorn, Plus, and Professional subscribers also have the option of text/SMS outbid notifications.

Note: The software strives to maximize deliverability of outbid notifications - but we cannot guarantee delivery. All Email and cellular providers continuously implement and update strategies for blocking suspected spam messages. By their nature outbid notifications can appear suspicious (nearly identical messages, containing links, sent repeatedly). Thus, outbid notifications should only be considered a bidding aid.  

To Choose Your Settings and Edit the Text of Email Messages:

To enable Outbid Email Notifications:

1. Go to Site Settings. > Events 
2. Click on Online Auction/Mobile Bidding > Email Notifications
3. Check the box next to Email Outbid Notifications to Guests.
6. Click Save.

Once enabled, guests will automatically receive an email notification whenever a higher bid is placed on an item they have bid on.

Tip: The automated emails sent during Online/Mobile Bidding can be edited and previewed. Click the Signup Confirmation, Outbid Notification, Winning Bid Notification, or Payment Reminder buttons to view, edit, and/or preview the message text included in each email template.

Signup Confirmation: Sent to confirm account creation and provide instructions for getting started.
Outbid Notification (Optional): Sent to notify a user when they are no longer the high bidder on an item.
Winning Bid Notification (Optional): Sent to notify a user when they are the high bidder and to provide instructions for payment and receiving their item(s).
Payment Reminder (Optional): Sent daily to users with unpaid orders.

The most reliable and timely way for guests to track their bid status during the bidding window is the flashing Outbid Notification, which is always visible in each user's menu bar.

The My Bids option in the user's menu bar, giving them easy access to their Favorites List, Bid History, and Current Bid Status.

When bidding from a smartphone, the Outbid Notification will appear in the upper right corner of the screen.
